But if there’s one thing we’ve learned after years of weddings, it’s this: a little rain doesn’t change the magic, and it certainly doesn’t mean your day won’t be beautiful. (After all, rain is lucky, right?!)

At Fishermen’s Inn, we don’t treat rain as a surprise. We treat it as something we plan for thoughtfully and intentionally, including the use of our indoor wedding ceremony space, The Veranda.

Here’s exactly how we handle it…

When Do We Start the Conversation?

During the week of your wedding (often on Wednesday), we’ll email you to share where the weather forecast currently stands. This isn’t a decision point yet. Rather, it’s simply the start of a calm, proactive conversation.

We’ll also revisit the forecast during your rehearsal, which often takes place on the Thursday before your wedding, so you never feel caught off guard.

When Is the Final Decision Made?

+ The ceremony location decision is made 24 hours prior to the event.
+ The cocktail hour location decision is made by noon on the day of the wedding.

This timeline allows us to monitor updated forecasts while still giving vendors and your design team the clarity they need to adjust.

Our Weather Thresholds

The safety and comfort of our guests is always the top priority!

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone:

+ 90°F or above meets our heat threshold

+ 60°F or below meets our cold threshold

Additionally, even if it is not actively raining at ceremony time, earlier rainfall (or overnight weather) may impact the safety and condition of the grounds. In those cases, an outdoor setup may not be possible.

How We Communicate With Vendors

You are never left to coordinate changes on your own. Once a ceremony location decision is confirmed:

+ Our in-house wedding coordinators, Erin and Tara, assist in contacting your florist and DJ

+ We coordinate setup changes

+ We ensure your timeline flows smoothly

Even when we transition indoors, your ceremony still feels intentional, romantic, and thoughtfully planned (not like a last-minute adjustment).

At Fishermen’s Inn, the weather doesn’t dictate whether your day feels beautiful. Preparation does, which is where our team truly shines! Whether under open skies or soft gray clouds, your outdoor or indoor wedding ceremony will feel meaningful, comfortable, and entirely yours.
